Slice of Life

Capturing memories through a lens has been a new passion of mine. I volunteered to be the historian for my sister's drill team, knowing that the only camera I knew how to work was the one on my phone. I went to my nearest Target and bought the highly recommended camera that the lovely tech guy suggested. Quickly, I had to learn how to take action shots and move across the field as the team performed their halftime routine. I watched multiple tutorial videos trying to figure out how to capture the best shots, and luckily I was going to get some practice in before an actual game. Summer practice is no joke for any sports team and a summer drill team practice is no different. I came prepared with all my camera and hydration skills ready to survive the two hour practice. The sun was not in my favor as it was beaming above us shining as bright as a diamond, and Texas humidity was not missing out on the fun. I started off strong for the first couple of minutes, but then I decided to switch lenses and that process took a good ten minutes worth of decent action shots. I was disappointed in myself for missing out, but I didn't let that discourage me. After practice was over, I rushed home to immediately see the pictures. I was shocked to see the quality of pictures I was able to take and at that moment I realized I let doubt take over and crawl into this enjoyable experience. I picked up the camera to capture memories, not to perfect a shot. Seeing the potential for my photography skills to soar, I decided to take a chance because "Chance won't come every single day, so don't throw it away."- Waitress the Musical Thus my very ametuer photography business was established, Energy Photos by Eneri Martinez!
